Two teenagers die in road accidents
Two teenagers have been killed today in separate road accidents, according to gardaí.
A 16-year-old girl was travelling in a car at Ragwood, Gurteen, Co Sligo when it left the road.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident on the main Gurteen to Ballaghadereen Road at around 3.20am.
Four others were in the car at the time, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The girl was taken to Sligo General Hospital.
Investigating gardaí sealed off the area for technical examination while road diversions were put in place.
A second teenager died in a separate incident after being struck by a car in Co Meath.
The accident happened on the N2 just after midnight.
Gardaí have said the youth, who is believed to be in his late teens, was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead at 1.30am.
Gardaí at Dunshaughlin are investigating the incident.
