A building in Dublin City Centre will be demolished this afternoon.

The unoccupied Inter Tool Shop on the North Circular Road underwent a structural exam earlier, after movement was detected.

A number of adjacent office buildings were empty at the time, however, no-one has been allowed into these buildings since the alarm was raised.

Dublin City Council has said it will begin demolition work immediately.

Russell Street, Emmet Street and Fitzgibbon Street are all closed and will re-open as soon as possible - however, the clean up will continue over the weekend.
