Independent inquiry to examine Omagh fire deaths
The Northern Executive has announced plans for an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of an entire family in a house fire in Omagh last year.
Arthur McElhill is believed to have set fire to the family home in November, killing himself, his partner and their five children.
Local people have been demanding an inquiry into how social services dealt with Mr McElhill, who had convictions for sex offences.
The investigation announced by Minister for Social Services Michael McGimpsey today has been asked to compile a report by May of next year.
