Two young people have been killed in separate weekend road accidents.
A man in his 20s died when his car collided with a truck in Co Meath.
The accident happened at Kilmoone Cross outside Ashbourne shortly after 9pm last night.
Three other people in the car were injured, one of them seriously.
“A second male occupant of the car was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda but was later transferred to Beaumont,” said a garda spokesman.
“His condition is described as being critical.
“The deceased’s body remains at scene and the road is still closed at this time.
“Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.”
A 14-year-old boy was also killed last night when he was hit by a car in Limerick city.
Witnesses took the boy to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle, where he died.
The accident happened on the Condell Road shortly after 6pm.
