A man in his teens remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital in Limerick this morning after he was shot by a lone masked gunman in the city yesterday evening.

A man in his teens remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital in Limerick this morning after he was shot by a lone masked gunman in the city yesterday evening.

The shooting happened in the Parnell St area of Limerick city just before 6pm yesterday in front of pedestrians, shoppers and rush-hour motorists.

The teenager sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body before collapsing in front of traffic while trying to make his escape from the gunman.

It is understood that the shooting is part of on-going gangland feuding in Limerick.

A garda investigation is underway and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the shooting, or for anybody with any information, to come forward.
