Relatives of the five men who lost their lives in the sinking of the Pere Charles are marking the first anniversary of the deaths today.

Tom Hennessy, Pat Hennessy, Patrick Coady, Billy O'Connor and Andriy Dyrin died when the fishing vessel sank off Hook Head in Co Wexford on the night of January 10, 2007.

In the early hours of the following morning, another trawler, the Honey Dew II, went down off the nearby Waterford coast, claiming the lives of two more men, Ger Bohan and Tomasz Jagla.

The bodies of the seven missing men have never been recovered.

Last November, the wreck of the Pere Charles was raised from the seabed for examination, but no human remains were found on board.
