Rape centre helped one victim every day in December
The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre says it helped an average of one rape victim every day during the month of December.
The centre says its volunteers accompanied 31 people to the Rotunda Hospital last month alone.
Between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, its helpline also received 12 calls from people who had been recently raped.
The organisation says these are only the reported cases and do not represent the true number of women and men being raped around the country.
