The Garda Ombudsman Commission is investigating the death of a teenage pedestrian who was hit by a patrol car in Dublin early yesterday morning.

Nineteen year-old Philip Hogarty was knocked down on the Blessington Road in Tallaght at 2.30am yesterday and died later in hospital.

The incident is the second in recent days to be referred to the Garda Ombudsman, which is also investigating the death of a man in a cell at Dublin's Terenure garda station over the weekend.
