Tributes have been paid to singer Joe Dolan.

The much-loved entertainer from Mullingar passed away in hospital yesterday afternoon after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

He was 64 and had been ill for some time.

The Taoiseach described Joe Dolan as "a fantastic showman, with a great stage presence, who never forgot his roots".

Stephen Travers of the Miami Showband said: "Joe had a unique voice, his passing is the end of an era."

Joe Dolan's funeral will take place on Saturday.
