Man arrested in connection with assault in Dublin city

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Dublin city centre.

A teenager is fighting for his life in hospital following the attack on Middle Abbey Street in the early hours of this morning.

It's believed a street fight broke out between a group of men on Middle Abbey street in the north inner city just after 2am this morning.

Gardaí were called to the scene a short time later, and they found a 17-year-old man in a collapsed state.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital, but later transferred to Beaumont, where he is now in a critical condition.
