Man in court charged with wife's Castleknock murder

A man charged with the murder of his wife today had his case sent forward to the Central Criminal Court.

David Bourke appeared before Dublin District Court in relation to the death of his wife Jean Gilbert in their Castleknock home.

Judge Hugh O’Donnell said the case would be listed in the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court in the New Year.

Mr Bourke, 48, who is originally from Mullingar, is accused of murdering his 46-year-old wife on Tuesday, August 28.

Ms Gilbert died from stab wounds following an early morning disturbance at the family home.

She was found collapsed in the kitchen of the house by emergency services.

The victim, who used her maiden name, had three children with her husband - aged 10, seven and fours years – who were in the house at the time.
