Govt wins EU case over Dublin ambulance services

The European Court of Justice has ruled in favour of the Irish Government in a case about the provision of ambulance services in Dublin.

The commission brought the Government to court arguing that there should be an open call for tender for ambulance services in the capital.

However, it failed to show that there was an award of a public contract.

The court found that it is possible Dublin City Council was providing the service on the basis of its powers granted under statute.
