Man arrested after swords threat
A man armed with two swords was restrained and arrested by gardaí today after a row at his home.
Officers were called to a domestic incident at a flat complex in Dublin’s north inner city shortly before midnight and found the 38-year-old on the street.
As gardaí tried to restrain the man he lashed out, damaging a garda patrol car.
No-one was injured.
The Garda Press Office said the man was agitated and aggressive and was standing in the street outside Henrietta House, armed with two swords, when officers arrived.
A number of units were called to the scene and gardai attempted to calm the man by talking to him.
“After a short time he was arrested,” gardaí said.
It is understood the incident lasted less than 10 minutes.
The arrested man was taken to the Bridewell Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
