Garda injured in Cavan attack

A garda was being in treated in Cavan General Hospital today for abdominal injuries which he sustained while responding to a domestic incident.

Another colleague was also wounded during the incident in Dungimmon, Mountnugent around 8pm last night.

A man has been arrested and was detained in Cavan Garda Station.

It is not yet clear how the injuries were sustained.

The injuries of the officer who has been kept in hospital were not believed to be life threatening.

His colleague received injuries to his thigh.
