Man dies following Offaly crash

A man has died in a collision in Co Offaly.

The single vehicle accident occurred near Edenderry at approximately 11pm last night.

The 19-year-old was killed when the car in which he was a passenger collided with a pillar.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was seriously injured and was taken to Tullamore Hospital.

The road at the scene is closed and will remain so until approximately midday - traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Edenderry garda station.
