Waterford cocaine victim to be laid to rest today

The second young man who died after taking cocaine at a party in Waterford two weeks ago is due to be laid to rest in the city today.

Twenty-three-year-old John Grey lost his fight for life on Saturday after spending nearly two weeks on life support at Waterford Regional Hospital.

He was one of 15 people who needed medical treatment after swallowing cocaine during a party at his home in Ballybeg Square on November 25.

He and another man - 21-year-old Kevin Doyle - both slipped into a coma and died as a result of the drug overdose.

Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend his funeral mass at Saint Saviour's Church in Waterford this morning.

He will be buried at Saint Otteran's cemetery after the service.
