Part-time school bus drivers have called off a planned one-day strike tomorrow following new proposals from the Labour Relations Commission.

The Bus Éireann drivers were planning to mount a one-day stoppage in pursuit of improved pay and conditions.

An estimated 14,000 schoolchildren would have been affected, but the strike has now been cancelled and a ballot will be held on the LRC proposals.

SIPTU says the proposals represent significant progress on pay, overtime and pensions.

It says it will be recommending that the drivers accept the recommendations.
