Prison officers to mount one-hour work stoppage
Prison officers are to mount a one-hour work stoppage today to as part of a dispute over new security screening measures.
The Prison Officers' Association is angry that its members will have to undergo the screening before they clock in for their shift.
The association says officers should be paid from the time they arrive in work and should therefore be allowed to clock in before the screening takes place.
The Irish Prison Service, however, says staff are not ready for duty until after the security checks.
It also claims today's industrial action is a clear breach of the national pay agreement.
