Gardaí await toxicology report on substance from Waterford party

Toxicology tests are being carried out on a white substance which Gardaí discovered at a house in Waterford after a number of people fell ill following a party last night.

Three people remain in a critical condition in intensive care in Waterford Regional Hospital after the 21st birthday celebrations.

Gardaí in Waterford are urging anyone who attended the party at Ballybeg Square to get medical attention and to get in contact with them.

They were first alerted to the house between 5am and 6am after ambulance control contacted them.

A number of people were visibly sick at that time and five were rushed to hospital immediately.

Three are still being treated in intensive care, while a number of other guests also had to be hospitalised.

Gardaí maintained that they are awaiting the results of the toxicology tests to establish the cause of their illness, but it is believed that it was a bad batch of drugs.
