Eight held in connection with Belfast murders released

The PSNI have released eight people who were being questioned about a double murder in the North last March.

The eight were all arrested this week in connection with the deaths of Edward Burns and Joe Jones during separate attacks on the same night in Belfast.

The killings came amid tensions within dissident republicanism.

A 25-year-old Dublin man was remanded in custody earlier this week after being charged with Mr Burns' murder.
