More than 150 people attended a vigil in Derry last night for the American teenager raped at knifepoint over the weekend.

More than 150 people attended a vigil in Derry last night for the American teenager raped at knifepoint over the weekend.

The victim, who was in her late teens, was attacked in a car park beside the Bogside Inn on Saturday evening.

She is said to have been severely traumatised.

The police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Last night, people left candles at the base of Free Derry Corner to express their outrage at the crime and send a message of sympathy to the young girl.
