A well-known senior republican is due in court in Co Louth this morning after being arrested yesterday by gardaí attached to the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB).

A well-known senior republican is due in court in Co Louth this morning after being arrested yesterday by gardaí attached to the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB).

Thomas ‘Slab’ Murphy, who is in his 50s, was rushed to hospital last night after his arrest as he was complaining of chest pain.

However, he was later returned to Drogheda Garda Station ahead of his court appearance in Ardee this morning.

Mr Murphy's home and farm, which straddle the border in Co Louth, were raided by the CAB in March 2006.
