Rise in petrol and home-heating oil prices “within days”, expert warns

Motorists and householders were today being warned to expect a rise in petrol and home heating oil prices within days.

Danny Murray, the CEO of Topaz Energy, which operates Shell and Statoil filling stations – has claimed the recent surge in crude oil prices will have a knock on effect here.

He also said that a new government levy of 1%, which kicked in at the start of this month, will further fuel increases.
