Transport 21 projects missing completion deadlines
The majority of the Government’s projects under Transport 21 will miss their completion deadlines.
The plan, which was launched over two years ago, is falling behind target in many of its major projects.
Reports in the Sunday Business Post today claim that Department of Transport documents show that many of the high profile initiatives due for completion next year have now been put back until 2009 and 2010.
The Department also admitted that there is no date set for the joining of the red and green Luas lines in Dublin.
The extension of the Luas to the Docklands and City West, and the Cork to Midleton rail line are just a few of the projects which have been delayed.
Completion dates for the Dublin Metro lines are also being revised, but the department has insisted that they will all be finished by 2014.
