Cervical screening will not be affected by jobs freeze

The Health Service Executive has said its freeze on the recruitment of new staff will not affect the screening of cervical smear tests at University College Hospital Galway.

Concerns had been expressed that the jobs freeze would leave the hospital unable to screen tests carried out as part of the pilot screening programme in the south-east of the country.
