Cliff-fall fisherman dies in hospital

A Polish man in his mid-30s has died in Ennis General Hospital after he fell from a cliff in Kilkee Bay in Co Clare.

The alarm was raised when a passer-by reported seeing a man plummet into the sea.

A major search and rescue operation was launched immediately and a short time later the man was spotted in the water.

He was taken to Ennis General Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
