Two police officers were taken to hospital after being hit with bricks during disturbances in north Belfast.

Two police officers were taken to hospital after being hit with bricks during disturbances in north Belfast.

Officers arrested one man following the trouble at Ardoyne Avenue last night. The injured officers were on a routine patrol targeting anti-social behaviour when they were attacked by a crowd of up to 20 youths throwing bricks and bottles.

A PSNI spokeswoman said two police vehicles were also damaged.
