Talks continue in effort to resolve Moneypoint dispute

The Labour Relations Commission is to oversee more talks today aimed at resolving a dispute at Ireland's largest electricity generation station.

The TEEU has been threatening to mount pickets at Moneypoint power plant due to a row involving around 200 Polish workers employed by a sub-contractor.

However, the planned action was deferred again last night as discussions continue between the union, the ESB, the German firm Lentjes and the Polish sub-contractor ZRE Katowice.

The Polish workers are owed up to eight weeks wages by ZRE Katowice, which was hired by Lentjes as part of an environmental refurbishment contract at Moneypoint.
