The concluding stages have been reached in the trial of a Meath man who is accused by a now 29-year-old woman of raping and sexually assaulting her in Cavan when she was eight or nine years old.

Closing addresses have been made by prosecuting counsel, Mr Paul Coffey SC (with Ms Monica Lawlor BL), and defence counsel Mr Patrick Gageby SC (with Ms Miriam O'Reilly BL), and the jury of five women and seven men will begin deliberating after being charged by Mr Justice Paul Carney.
