€86m of goods burgled from homes in past year
The value of goods burgled from Irish homes has risen by 25% over the past year, according to Eircom Phonewatch.
In a report out today, the company says €86m worth of goods were taken during burglaries between June 2006 and June 2007.
The number of burglaries carried out was also up by 17% compared to the previous 12-month period.
Eircom Phonewatch says 80% of burglaries are carried out while the home is occupied, while the most common time for burglaries is between midnight and 4am.
