Post mortem due on slurry pit body

The body of a man found in a slurry pit on a County Cork farm will be removed from the scene today for a post-mortem examination.

The body of a man found in a slurry pit on a County Cork farm will be removed from the scene today for a post-mortem examination.

The discovery was made at around 8.40am yesterday at Shanlaragh, Dunmanway.

The scene was sealed off and the Garda technical bureau and state pathologist were notified. The garda water unit was also called in.

The body is expected to be removed to Cork University Hospital, where the post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The findings will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
