Body recovered from base of cliff in Clare
Rescue services have recovered the body of an elderly man from the base of a cliff near his holiday home in Co Clare.
The 81-year-old, who is originally from the area, moved to the US many years ago but regularly came back to his holiday home at Quilty.
He arrived in Ireland last week for a short break.
Tourists visiting the area spotted the body and alerted the emergency services.
Gardaí are treating the incident as a "sudden death".
The body was removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post mortem examination was this evening to be carried out.
