Unions seek meeting with LRC over health freeze
Unions representing health service staff are seeking an urgent meeting with the Labour Relations Commission to discuss the HSE's decision to extend its recruitment freeze.
The cutback is being implemented in an effort to rein in a €245m budget overspend.
The unions say they will, if necessary, take a case to the Labour Court to force the HSE to consult with staff in an effort to resolve the financial situation.
Union officials are due to meet tomorrow to discuss a plan of opposition to the cuts, which they say will damage patient care.
