Up to 1,000 people have turned out for the funeral of one of the two firefighters killed in the line of duty in Co Wicklow last week.

The mourners at the funeral of 25-year-old Mark O'Shaughnessy included hundreds of firefighters from all around the country who travelled to Bray to pay their last respects.

The Taoiseach and the President were also represented.

Mr O'Shaughnessy was laid to rest after funeral mass at the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace.

The removal of his colleague, Brian Murray, takes place at 6pm this evening to Church of the Holy Redeemer in Bray.

He will be buried after Requiem Mass at 11am tomorrow morning.
