More than 5,000 people have taken to the streets of Ennis in Co Clare to protest over cutbacks at Ennis General Hospital.

More than 5,000 people have taken to the streets of Ennis in Co Clare to protest over cutbacks at Ennis General Hospital.

Clare Cancer Concern and The Ennis General Hospital Development Committee say there's been a huge show of support for their campaign to fight the loss of 24-hour A&E services.

They're also protesting at cutbacks in the breast cancer facilities.

Photographs of the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern were torn up at the rally.
