Five contest Green Party chairperson race

A member of the Greens in the north is one of five candidates to contest the position of party chairman.

Nominations closed at noon today for the job which was vacated by John Gormley on his election as party leader in July.

Five candidates in all are to contest the position, including Dr John Barry - who was co-chair of the regional branch of the Greens in the North.

The other candidates are Senator Dan Boyle, Cllr. Bronwen Maher, Paul Gogarty TD and Green Party activist Phil Kearney.

Ballot papers from Green Party members will be returned on Friday October 19th and the new chairperson should be known shortly afterwards.
