Photo exhibition challenges attitudes to ageing

A photographic exhibition challenging negative public perceptions of ageing and older people will be launched today.

The Positive Images Of Ageing And Older People In Your Community exhibition features the winning images and some of the entries from this year’s Age Action Positive Ageing Week Photographic Competition.

It will be opened by RTE presenter Miriam O’Callaghan, marking the launch of Positive Ageing Week, which runs until October 6.

The images on show feature older people hill walking, running, playing with their grandchildren and working.

All photographs were taken by amateur photographers.

The exhibition, in Dublin’s Lower Fitzwilliam Street, is one of more than 400 events being staged around Ireland as part of Positive Ageing Week.
