One fifth of hospitals failing to meet hygiene standards

One fifth of Irish hospitals are failing to meet minimum hygiene standards, according to the latest audit conducted for the Department of Health.

The audit also says MRSA continues to pose a major problem in Irish hospitals, with 592 cases of the superbug reported in 2006.
