Church collections for care agency's work

Churchgoers will be asked to dig deep this weekend for the Crosscare annual collection.

The social care agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin will collect much needed funds at Masses across the city and county.

Last year, Crosscare provided more than 13,000 nights in its four homeless projects and 30,000 hot meals to people in need at three city centre food centres.

Hundreds of families also benefited from its teen counselling service, while 50 vulnerable young boys were supported in residential projects.

“This work would not be possible without the support of the people of Dublin who give so generously each year at our annual collection,” said Conor Hickey Crosscare’s director.

For the last 65 years, Crosscare has provided quality services to those most in need.

It now runs 11 social and educational support programmes and recently developed a new long term vision for the organisation and a detailed five-year strategy which will be launched later this year.

The annual collection is a vital source of income to the agency, with Mr Hickey urging people to once again show their support and generosity at all Masses this weekend.
