Minister wants more ethnic minorities in defence forces

The Defence Forces should review recruitment procedures to ensure more cultures and ethnic minorities sign up, it was claimed tonight.

Minister for Defence Willie O’Dea said he has asked Chief of Staff, Major-General Dermot Earley, to conduct the study to identify and implement the changes required to attract members of non-Irish descent.
