Gormley wants to levy incinerators

The Minister for the Environment has announced that he wants to introduce a levy on incinerators similar to those imposed on landfill sites.

John Gormley was speaking at a major EPA conference in Dublin today.

He said the measure would be aimed at ensuring incineration and landfill sites are used only as last resorts.

The Green party leader argued that they are essentially the same thing and said he wants to encourage alternatives.
