Antrim police probe shooting of youth, 17
The shooting of a 17-year-old youth in Antrim was being investigated by police today.
The teenager was shot once in the lower right leg in the town last night.
Police said the attack took place at Greystone Link in the Ballycraigy area.
The teenager, who is being treated in hospital for injuries which were not believed to be serious, was found lying injured in the street.
A Police Service spokeswoman said detectives were seeking to establish a motive for the shooting and appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack to contact them.
Meanwhile a man is being treated for serious injuries after being badly beaten by a gang in Lurgan, Co Armagh.
He is thought to have been battered repeatedly with a large piece of wood in the early hours of last Friday at the junction of Ulster Street and Brownlow Terrace.
The victim suffered what police said were severe injuries to his back and face, a broken wrist, cheek bone and substantial cuts and bruises and remains in hospital.
