Man killed in three-car pile up

A middle-aged man was killed and several others injured in a three-car pile up, police in the North said today.

The 57-year-old died and two others were being treated in hospital for serious injuries after three cars collided near Garvagh, Co Derry.

Three other people were also being treated but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The crash happened on the Edenbane Road, the main road between Garvagh and Kilrea, at around 10.50pm last night.

Police at Coleraine have appealed for witnesses and said the road would remain closed for several hours.
