Penrose supports Gilmore's bid for Labour leadership

Another veteran Labour TD has thrown his weight behind Eamon Gilmore's campaign for the leadership of the party.

Longford-Westmeath Deputy Willie Penrose has said the Environment spokesman has the experience, vigour and commitment to take over from Pat Rabbitte.

A groundswell of support is now behind Mr Gilmore, who's so far the only declared candidate for the job.

Limerick East TD Jan O'Sullivan and Dublin West's Joan Burton are the two declared candidates for the deputy leadership.
