Irish Coursing Club makes application to Gormley
It has been confirmed that the Minister for the Environment has received an application from the Irish Coursing Club to catch hares in nets from their habitats in time for the coursing season.
Coursing involves keeping the animals captive in compounds for several weeks before they're forced to run in terror from muzzled greyhound dogs.
John Gormley however is contemplating delivering on the Green Party’s election promise of banning blood sports in Ireland.
The Irish Council Against Blood Sports has condemned the application.
