An 11-year-old boy has died after being hit by a truck in Limerick city this morning.

An 11-year-old boy has died after being hit by a truck in Limerick city this morning.

The accident happened in the Hartigan Villas area of Moyross at around 10am.

The vehicle was exiting a demolition site in the estate when the incident occurred.

The area has been cordoned off and Gardai are investigating.

Meanwhile, a priest who was critically injured in a car crash in Co Kerry last Thursday has died in hospital.

76-year-old Fr Florence O'Carroll, who was based in Argentina, died yesterday afternoon.

He was visiting Abbeydorney at the time of last week's crash near the Ferry bridge in Ballyduff.
