A fire which swept through Sinn Féin offices in Co Fermanagh is being treated as suspicious, police confirmed today.

The top three floors of the four-storey premises in Lisnaskea were severely damaged by the blaze which broke out early this morning.

Up to 18 firefighters and three appliances were needed. As investigators began to examine the scene, a police spokeswoman said: “We are treating it as suspicious.”

The offices are run by the party’s MP, Michelle Gildernew, and she said it had destroyed work being carried out for her constituents.

Miss Gildernew said: “It was a fairly serious fire, a lot of damage was done. At this stage it’s not clear if it was deliberate or accidental.”
