Man arrested in connection with machete killing

A man was being questioned today about a brutal machete killing in the North.

Mark Christie, 36, was hacked to death in the street by at least six men last August.

The gang chased their victim through the Kilcooley estate in Bangor, Co Down, before being surrounded and attacked.

Mr Christie had been given a suspended jail sentence on assault charges a week before his murder.

The suspect, aged 27, was arrested in Bangor this morning, police said.

He was taken to a serious crime suite in Antrim to be questioned.
