Banned mobiles on planes set to end

Airline passengers could soon be allowed use their mobile phones while travelling by plane.

The Communications Regulator ComReg is inviting submissions from the public on a proposed lifting of the mobile phone ban.

This is possible because of new technology that many airlines are seeking to install on their planes.

This sophisticated technology controls the level of emissions from mobile phones and masks terrestrial phone signals.
