Rabbitte to announce resignation: Reports

There have been unconfirmed reports that Pat Rabbitte is too step down as leader of the Labour Party later this afternoon.

A press conference has been called for 3.30pm at Labour Party headquarters this afternoon so that Rabbitte can make a ‘major announcement.

Rabbitte has been leader of the party since October 2002 and was formerly a member of the Worker’s Party and The Democratic Left.
